Parting ways with Leitao was right call

Kudos to the University of Virginia for buying out Dave Leitao's contract. All you hear is "Groh must go," whereas the truth is Leitao had to go.

I am a U.Va. season ticket holder for football, and I appreciate the way the team competes in most every game. But in basketball, we have become a disgrace with the lackluster, undisciplined performances the past two years.

I used to go to about six games a year before their bottom-feeder status, but only twice in the past two years. I think the attendance figures at John Paul Jones Arena the past two years will confirm that I am not the only one who feels that way.

Let's hear it for hiring a young, energetic, proven coach who will put U.Va. back on the map and fans back in the JPJ Arena. Sam Hardesty Manakin-Sabot
