UR is squashed by the Dragons

Richmond out-pointed visiting Drexel 25-14 in the paint, had seven more points off of turnovers and ended the night with a 9-0 advantage off of fast break points. However, an 18 for 59 shooting night became the Spiders downfall as Richmond lost to the Dragons 67-52 last night at the Robbins Center. It was the first lost of the season for UR.

LONGWOOD 73, UTAH VALLEY STATE 51: Longwood turned a one-point halftime lead into the 22-point cushion by outscoring visiting Utah Valley State 43-22 in the second half. The Lancers (1-2) forced 21 Wolverine turnovers and shot 51 percent from the field. Chelesea Coward led all Longwood scorers with 15 points and was followed by Morgan Smith who ended the day with 13. The Wolverines (2-3) were led by Kayla Burningham's 12.
LIBERTY 63, TULANE 52: Despite having two more turnovers than Tulane (24 to 22), Liberty exploded out of the gate to a 32-19 halftime lead and held on for the win at the Navy Classic to remain unbeaten for the season. Devon Brown led the Flames (3-0) with 18 points off of 6 of 13 shooting. Amber Mays added 10 for Liberty. The Green Wave (1-1) was led by Chassity Brown's 13.
ROANOKE 59, ST. MARY'S (MD.) 54: Jaleesa Osborne went 5 of 9 from the floor and led all scorers with 17 points as Roanoke beat host St. Mary's College of Maryland.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN 93, JOHN JAY 52: Virginia Wesleyan's 54-point first half outburst was too much for John Jay College as the Marlins ran away to the 41-point victory on the first day of the Eastern Mennonite Tip-Off Classic
BRIDGEWATER 56, METHODIST 51: Despite being outscored by four in the second half, Methodist was held to only 29 percent shooting as the visiting Eagles came away with an opening day win.
NORFOLK STATE 78, ST. PAUL'S 74: Whitney Long led four Spartans in double-figures as homestanding Norfolk State squeaked by Saint Paul's.
MARY BALDWIN 63, HOLLINS 62: Hollins' Jasmine Greene was outdueled by Mary Baldwin's Krystal Churchman as the Fighting Squirrels get the road victory over Hollins. Churchman scored 18 points, including 4 for 4 from the free throw line as Mary Baldwin improved to 1-1 for the season. Greene finished the night with 22 points in a losing effort for Hollins (1-1).
BRESCIA 74, EMORY & HENRY 60: Clarissa Houston scored a game-high 29 points to help lead the Lady Bearcats to the opening round win at the Eastern Mennonite Tip-Off Classic. Hollie Anson chipped in 12 as Brescia improves to 3-2. Sarah Petty led the Wasps (0-1) with 15.
EASTERN MENNONITE 86, MEREDITH 76: The Royals upped their record to 2-0 behind double-figure scoring from five players, led by Brittany Synder's 14 points. Sara Lamneck and Danielle Scott contributed 13 each.
