If Joey Logano wins the Crown Royal Presents The Russ Friedman 400 on Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway, he'll gladly take the check and trophy.

But he won't take a celebratory swig of whiskey. At 18, the Sprint Cup and Nationwide driver can only pour down a bottle of milk or water.

"It's the law I guess," said Logano, who isn't old enough to drink alcohol. "We'll try to win the race and deal with it later. I don't have an idea how it works."

It'll likely be the same as it was at Daytona earlier this season during the Bud Shootout. Logano couldn't participate in the shootout draw because a beer bottle was used. As a result, crew chief Greg Zippadelli had to participate.

Logano's first NASCAR race was nearly a year ago. "A year ago, I was 17 and not running anything," Logano said. "I was sitting around waiting before I got my chance to drive at Dover. If I can wait that long, I can wait until I'm old enough to drink."

If Logano wins Saturday night, racetrack officials confirmed yesterday a trophy will be presented that will not incorporate the Crown Royal brand. - Ralph N. Paulk
