DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers All-Star third baseman Brandon Inge has undergone surgery on both knees.
The team said today the procedure at the Detroit Medical Center addressed chronic patellar tendinitis that plagued Inge last season. The procedure yesterday involved the repair of the patellar tendon in both knees.
Inge, a 32-year-old native of Lynchburg, Va., and former standout at Virginia Commonwealth University, is expected to be ready for the start of spring training in February. Inge last season hit .230 with 27 home runs and 84 RBIs in 161 games.
