RANGERS 3, ANGELS 2: Hank Blalock homered to help lift Texas' slumping offense, Scott Feldman picked up his 17th victory and Texas kept its slim playoff hopes alive, beating Los Angeles. Feldman allowed two runs and four hits in 62/3 innings. RAYS 4, BLUE JAYS 0: Matt Garza struck out 10 while stopping a personal nine-game winless streak and Tampa Bay beat Toronto. Garza allowed three hits over 71/3 innings in winning for the first time since beating Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay 4-2 on July 24. NATIONAL LEAGUE ROUNDUPMETS 3, NATIONALS 2: Tim Redding pitched splendidly into the eighth and New York ended its six-game losing streak with a victory over Washington. Redding gave up two runs, one earned, and four hits in seven-plus innings. Francisco Rodriguez got the save. PADRES 2, PIRATES 1: Henry Blanco hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth to lead San Diego over Pittsburgh. Luke Gregerson got three outs to extend his scoreless streak to 17 innings and Heath Bell worked the ninth for his 38th save in 43 opportunities. CARDINALS 2, CUBS 1: Brendan Ryan hit an outfielder-assisted homer and singled in the winning run in the ninth, lifting St. Louis over Chicago that reduced the Cardinals' magic number for clinching the NL Central to four. Chris Carpenter threw eight strong innings. BRAVES 6, PHILLIES 4: Javier Vazquez outpitched an ailing Pedro Martinez, and Atlanta survived a shaky ninth inning to snap Philadelphia's six-game winning streak. Ryan Howard hit his 41st homer, a two-run shot off Rafael Soriano in the ninth. MARLINS 3, REDS 2: Pinch-hitter Ross Gload connected for a two-run homer in the eighth, Ricky Nolasco pitched seven sharp innings and Florida rallied to beat Cincinnati.
