Baltimore - Named Mike Griffin pitching coach for Norfolk (IL), Jim Thrift major league advance scout, Bobby Myrick professional scout, Matt Ruebel national crosschecker, Bob Szymkowski and Adrian Dorsey amateur scouts and Tim Norris, Harvey Shapiro and Anibal Zayas part-time scouts. Promoted Dean Albany to regional crosschecker.

Chicago (AL) - Agreed to terms with INF Javier Castillo, INF Bryan Myrow, INF Sergio Santos, INF Eider Torres, C Corky Miller, C Chris Stewart, OF Josh Kroeger, OF Michael Restovich, RHP Ryan Braun, RHP Franklyn German, RHP Brad Salmon, RHP Jon Van Benschoten and LHP Randy Williams on minor-league contracts.

Cleveland - Agreed to terms with C Kelly Shoppach on a one-year contract. Sent INF Michael Aubrey outright to Columbus (IL).

Houston - Agreed to terms with RHP Jose Valverde on a one-year contract.

Kansas City - Agreed to terms with OF Jose Duarte, OF Derrick Robinson, C Cody Clark, C Jeff Howell and C John Suomi on minor-league contracts.

Los Angeles (NL) - Named Tim Wallach manager of Albuquerque (PCL) and Franklin Stubbs hitting coach for Inland Empire (Cal).

Milwaukee - Agreed to terms with SS J.J. Hardy on a one-year contract.

New York (NL) - Agreed to terms with RHP Tim Redding on a one-year contract.

Tampa Bay - Agreed to terms with OF Gabe Kapler on a one-year contract.

Cleveland - Signed F Jawad Williams to a 10-day contract.

Indianapolis - Announced the retirement of coach Tony Dungy. Named Jim Caldwell coach.

Jacksonville - Promoted Gene Smith to general manager. Named Terry McDonough director of player personnel, Tim Mingey assistant director of college personnel and Andy Dengler national scout. Re-signed RB Alvin Pearman, OT Charles Spencer and TE Charles Davis.

Kansas City - Agreed to terms with QB Ingle Martin on a two-year reserve/future free agent contract.

New Orleans - Promoted Pete Carmichael Jr. from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator, Aaron Kromer from running backs coach to offensive line coach, and Joe Lombardi from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach. Named Bret Ingalls running backs coach.

Seattle - Named Casey Bradley defensive coordinator and Dan Quinn defensive line coach and assistant head coach.

Miami - Suspended sophomore men's baskteball G Eddie Rios indefinitely for violating team rules.

Ole Miss - Announced the resignation of Tracy Rocker, defensive line coach, to take the same position at Auburn.

Missouri - Suspended men's basketball F Leo Lyons indefinitely, following his arrest on traffic charges and for failing to pay a traffic fine from 2006.

Shenandoah - Promoted Joe Jacoby to full-time assistant football coach.

South Carolina - Named Craig Fitzgerald director of football strength and conditioning, and Lorenzo Ward defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

Southern Miss - Signed football coach Larry Fedora to a four-year contract extension through 2012.

Utah - Announced DE Paul Kruger is entering the 2009 NFL draft.

Utah State - Named T.J. Woods tight ends coach.
