DENVER (6-2) AT WASHINGTON (2-6)

Time: 1 p.m.

Line: Broncos by 3½

On the air: TV - CBS; radio - WXGI (950), 10 a.m.

Inside slant:: Denver, which started 6-0, tries to rebound after losing its last two and gets the perfect opportunity as it plays offensively inept Washington. The Redskins score only 14.1 points a game and now are missing their top offensive player, RB Clinton Portis (concussion). Denver has done little on offense lately, but its strength is its stout defense.

Wrath of Woody: Instead of yelling at the linemen during halftime, Redskins offensive line coach Joe Bugel will stay on the field and invite fans down for tryouts. Denver 27, Washington 17.

JACKSONVILLE (4-4) AT
N.Y. JETS (4-4)

Time: 1 p.m.;

Line: Jets by 7

Inside slant: Teams meet that expected to be better than 4-4 - especially N.Y., which started 3-0. The ground game is the key for both. Jacksonville, led by Maurice Jones-Drew, is sixth in rushing, but the Jets haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher all season. N.Y. has the league's top ground attack, led by Thomas Jones (Virginia), and goes against the 22nd-rated run-stopping unit.

Wrath of Woody: Things are going so badly for the Jaguars that when they went into Manhattan for dinner last night, they couldn't even hail a cab. New York Jets 31, Jacksonville 16.

CINCINNATI (6-2) AT
PITTSBURGH (6-2)

Time: 1 p.m.;

Line: Steelers by 7

On the air: Radio - WHAN (1430), WRNL (910)

Inside slant:: In a battle for the AFC North lead, Cincy goes for its first sweep in the series since '98. Bengals RB Cedric Benson, who ran for 76 yards in a 23-20 win in Cincy in September, is on the rise. He's averaging 117.5 yards in his past four outings, with a TD in each. But Pittsburgh has won five in a row, is No. 1 agaisnt the run, and QB Ben Roethlisberger is having a monster year.

Wrath of Woody: Before he heard about the fine Chad Ochocinco had to pay, Roethlisberger planned to take a $5 onto the field to outbid Ochocinco's bribes. Pittsburgh 24, Cincinnati 23.

BUFFALO (3-5) AT TENNESSEE (2-6)

Time: 1 p.m.;

Line: Titans by 8

Inside slant:: Tennessee goes for its third straight win (all with Vince Young at QB) after an 0-6 start and turns NFL leading rusher Chris Johnson loose on the league's worst run defense. Buffalo is expected to have QB Trent Edwards back from a concussion, and WR Terrell Owens is expected to play despite a hip ailment.

Wrath of Woody: The Bills still think the Titans threw an illegal forward pass in that wild card playoff game in January of 2000. Tennessee 23, Buffalo 19.

DETROIT (1-7) AT MINNESOTA (7-1)

Time: 1 p.m;

Line: Vikings by 17

On the air: TV - Fox

Inside slant:: Minnesota QB Brett Favre is nursing a sore groin, but don't be surprised if he'll be on the sideline resting for much of the second half after working vs. the 31st-ranked pass defense. The Lions have lost 11 straight games at Minnesota.

Wrath of Woody: To make Brett Favre feel at home, the Vikings are moving their November and December home games outdoors. Minnesota 31, Detroit 19.

NEW ORLEANS (8-0) AT
ST. LOUIS (1-7)

Time: 1 p.m.;

Line: Saints by 14

Inside slant:: Unbeaten New Orleans unleashes its versatile, high-powered attack - top five in all major categories - against a defense ranking 23rd or worse on those lists. QB Drew Brees and the balanced Saints attack should toy with this foe, which loses at home by an average score of 38-11.

Wrath of Woody: Rams only recently realized losing did not reduce their carbon footprint. New Orleans 29, St. Louis 17.

ATLANTA (5-3) AT CAROLINA (3-5)

Time: 1 p.m.;

Line: Falcons by 1½

Inside slant:: Atlanta heads back on the road, where it is 1-3 and Matt Ryan has been intercepted five times total in the past two games. With RB Michael Turner coming into form (166 and 151 rushing yards in his past two outings), look for the ground game to be the focus against the 23-ranked Carolina run defense. Carolina has lost two of its past three.

Wrath of Woody: Panthers don't care about this game. Harrison Bates is going to North Carolina! Atlanta 17, Carolina 16.

TAMPA BAY (1-7) AT MIAMI (3-5)

Time: 1 p.m.;

Line: Dolphins by 10

Inside slant: Tampa QB Josh Freeman threw three TD passes last week in his NFL debut last week to sink Green Bay, but now makes his first pro road start and it comes vs. a defense that is 29th vs. the pass and will be missing key pass rusher Joey Porter (hamstring). Still, he'll have a tough task to keep pace as Miami's wildcat is No. 4 in rushing and that unit should feast on the Bucs' No. 30 run defense.

Wrath of Woody: Players on both teams wonder why anyone would want to play anywhere but Florida. Miami 26, Tampa Bay 13.

KANSAS CITY (1-7) AT
OAKLAND (2-6)

Time: 4:05 p.m.

Line: Raiders by 2.

Inside slant:: Teams are a combined 3-13. Oakland's woeful offense gets several injured players back, including RB Darren McFadden, and K.C. has dumped troublesome RB Larry Johnson. But who cares?

Wrath of Woody: If a game is played in Oakland and no one cares, does it count in the standings? Kansas City 8, Oakland 7.

SEATTLE (3-5) AT ARIZONA (5-3)

Time: 4:15 p.m.;

Line: Cardinals by 8½

Inside slant: The Cards return home after dismantling the Bears but are just 1-3 in Arizona. They should get back on track here against a team that's 0-3 on the road, being outscored 95-44, and its QB (Matt Hasselbeck) has rib and throwing-shoulder ailments. Two TD passes by Arizona's Kurt Warner would give him 200 in the NFL.

Wrath of Woody: Seahawks sometimes wonder why no TV series have been set in Seattle since "Frazier." Arizona 27, Seattle 20.

PHILADELPHIA (5-3) AT
SAN DIEGO (5-3)

Time: 4:15 p.m.;

Line: Chargers by 1

On the air: Radio - WRNL (910), 6 p.m., joined in progress

Inside slant:: San Diego guns for its fourth win in a row and is getting it done despite averaging just 3.1 yards per carry - worst in the league. But QB Philip Rivers has been hot, especially with WR Vincent Jackson. Philly has been inconsistent but hopes to have RB Brian Westbrook back after missing two games because of a concussion.

Wrath of Woody: Writing off the Eagles and pumping up the Chargers are mistakes. Philadelphia 20, San Diego 17.

DALLAS (6-2) AT GREEN BAY (4-4)

Time: 4:15 p.m.;

Line: Cowboys by 3

On the air: TV - Fox

Inside slant: Dallas has won four in a row with QB Tony Romo throwing to Miles Austin. The mood is the opposite for the Packers, who have lost three in a row and the banged-up offensive line has allowed Aaron Rodgers to be sacked a league-high 37 times, six times last week.

Wrath of Woody: If conditions are the same as the "Ice Bowl" game, the Packers win. But they won't be. Dallas 34, Green Bay 26.

NEW ENGLAND (6-2) AT
INDIANAPOLIS (8-0)

Time: 8:30 p.m.;

Line: Colts by 3

On the air: TV - 8:15 p.m., NBC; radio - WRNL (910), 7:30 p.m.

Inside slant: Game of the week, as potent New England tries to stop Indy's 17-game regular-season win streak. Houston mysteriously failed to test Indy's patchwork secondary early last week, a mistake Pats QB Tom Brady won't make. He's on a roll, with 10 TD passes and 1,020 yards through the air in the team's three-game winning streak.

Wrath of Woody: Little known Bill Belichick fact: He never misses "Open Lines" on C-SPAN each day at 7 a.m. New England 31, Indianapolis 27.

BALTIMORE AT CLEVELAND

Time: 8:40 p.m.;

Line: Ravens by 11

On the air: TV - ESPN; radio -WHAP (1340)

Inside slant: The only excitement in Cleveland is a change of QBs again, as Brady Quinn is back to replace also-ineffective Derek Anderson. Baltimore's defense has struggled, but it doesn't need much to contain an offense averaging fewer than 10 points a game.

Wrath of Woody: ESPN executives spent the week trying to determine whose idea it was to put the Browns in prime time. Baltimore 34, Cleveland 20.

Bye weeks: New York Giants; Houston - Capsules by St. Louis Post-Dispatch; predictions by Paul Woody

For the record: overall - last week, 11-2; year, 87-42. Against the line - Last week, 9-4; year, 67-61-1.
