NFL notes: Porter out today
Porter out today
MIAMI - Joey Porter won't be making any tackles this week, either. Less than 24 hours before kickoff, the Miami Dolphins' outspoken linebacker was ruled out of today's game against Tampa Bay because of a coach's decision. The Dolphins didn't give any information about the reason for the move by coach Tony Sparano.
Porter made no tackles in last week's loss to the Patriots after calling them cheaters and saying he hated them. New England quarterback Tom Brady said his team was inspired by Porter's comments.
Porter has been slowed most of the season by a sore right hamstring. The four-time Pro Bowl player sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday but participated in full drills Friday.
Bucs WR, DE out
TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa Bay will be without receiver Antonio Bryant and defensive end Stylez G. White when it plays Miami. Bryant also sat out last week's win over Green Bay because of a knee injury that's bothered him since training camp. White was part of a pass rush that produced six sacks against the Packers.
Texans' Wilson fined
HOUSTON - The NFL has fined Texans safety Eugene Wilson $5,000 for hitting Colts tight end Dallas Clark in last week's game.
Wilson was penalized for unnecessary roughness for the hit, which came in the second quarter and the Colts leading 13-0. Indianapolis won the game 20-17.
The NFL said Friday that Wilson hit a defenseless receiver.
