Vikings cut Glennon

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings yesterday waived former Virginia Tech quarterback Sean Glennon, offensive lineman Bobby Lepori and tight end Nick Walker .

All three were signed as rookie free agents after not being drafted in April. Lepori played at Fresno State and Walker at Alabama.

The cuts trimmed the Vikings' roster to 82 players. The roster limit is 80 players, but drafted rookies do not count against the cap until they are signed.

Whitner case put off

CLEVELAND -- The disorderly conduct case against Buffalo Bills defensive back Donte Whitner has been pushed back to July 31 but won't interfere with his preseason workouts.

Whitner appeared in Cleveland Municipal Court on allegations of trying to force his way past officers dealing with a crowd outside a nightclub in April. He's charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Whitner's attorney, Larry Zukerman, told Judge Angela Stokes that both sides were involved in talks about a plea deal. With the agreement of the defense and prosecution, the judge said Whitner could skip next month's hearing because of preseason workouts. -- From Wire Reports
