NFL Notes: Vikings’ Winfield to miss Green Bay game
Vikings' Winfield to miss second game
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The Minnesota Vikings will be without Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield when they face the Green Bay Packers in a pivotal NFC North game tomorrow.
Winfield (right foot) was listed as out in yesterday's injury report. He also missed last week's game against Pittsburgh.
The Vikings (6-1) have a bye after the game against Green Bay (4-2), so they could be playing it safe with one of their most important defenders.
Eagles' Westbrook, Harris questionable
PHILADELPHIA - Eagles running back Brian Westbrook (concussion) and rookie free safety Macho Harris (ankle; Highland Springs, Virginia Tech) are listed as questionable on the injury report for tomorrow's key NFC East game against the Giants.
Wide receiver Kevin Curtis (knee), defensive end Victor Abiamiri (knee) and backup cornerback/special teams player Dimitri Patterson (hand/quadriceps) won't play.
Colts' Wayne, Freeney are expected to play
INDIANAPOLIS - The Colts received some good news heading into tomorrow's home game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Wide receiver Reggie Wayne (strained groin) and defensive end Dwight Freeney (knee) both took part in yesterday's practice and are expected to play. Defensive tackle Eric Foster (shoulder) also practiced and should be available against the 49ers.
Injuries could slow Jets' receivers
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - New York Jets wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery, David Clowney (Virginia Tech) and Brad Smith are listed as questionable but expected to play against the Miami Dolphins tomorrow.
Clowney has emerged as a deep threat this season. He had four catches for 79 yards and a touchdown in a 38-0 win at Oakland last Sunday.
Crowder doubtful with sore shoulder
DAVIE, Fla. - Miami inside linebacker Channing Crowder is doubtful for the Dolphins' game against the New York Jets because of a sore shoulder. Crowder sat out practice for the third day in a row. Crowder has missed six games in his five-year career. His absence would be felt against the Jets, who lead the NFL in rushing.
Jaguars' Mathis won't play vs. Titans
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis won't play tomorrow at Tennessee because of a broken left index finger suffered Oct. 18. Mathis didn't practice all week and was in a cast.
Elsewhere
- Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris knows expectations are high for his return to the starting lineup tomorrow against Cleveland. Harris sat out Sunday's 45-10 loss to Cincinnati after missing an entire week of practice with a sore left knee. He completed his third straight practice yesterday.
- Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson will be game-time decisions tomorrow against the St. Louis Rams. Stafford and Johnson, who have battled injuries to their right knees, are listed as questionable.
- The Carolina Panthers will be without starting receiver Muhsin Muhammad (sprained knee) and free safety Charles Godfrey (ankle) tomorrow at Arizona. Muhammad likely will be replaced by Dwayne Jarrett.
- Buffalo starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams will miss the Bills' game tomorrow at Houston because of a knee injury suffered last week. The Bills will also be without starting right tackle Jonathan Scott (ankle), safety Donte Whitner (ankle), fullback Corey McIntyre (knee) and tight end Shawn Nelson (migraine/illness).
- Running back Larry Johnson remained a member of the Kansas City Chief, but no one could say how much longer that might be the case. Johnson's agent said there had been no progress in discussions with the team over the future of the suspended running back.
