NFL fines Ray Lewis for hit on Ochocinco

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The NFL has fined Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis for a helmet-to-helmet hit delivered to Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco.
The play came in the fourth quarter of Baltimore’s 17-14 loss on Sunday. Lewis hit Ochocinco after a pass from Carson Palmer sailed incomplete, and the 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness helped set up the winning touchdown with 22 seconds remaining.
Asked Wednesday if he expected to be fined, Lewis replied, “Probably.“
The amount of the fine was not disclosed.

Ray Lewis is one of the dirtiest cheap shot players in the NFL.
The league is leaning toward two-hand touch football.
Good thing it wasn’t Tom Brady he hit, probably would have been a 100K fine.
It looked like a fair hit to me. Not even a penalty in my book. Lewis’s facemask only hit 85’s facemask because of the violent impact. He didn’t lead in with his helmet. What else is a guy supposed to do. If you take it easy on a guy like 85, he’s going to make a catch, score a TD, and then release a flock of doves or something else like that in the endzone. Quit pansyfying the NFL.
If anything, the QB should be fined for hanging 85 out to dry!
I think the rules are really meant to protect the contract investments. A suspension would hurt that investment on the part of the Ravens as well.
Suspend him the rest of the season without pay. Players have been paralyzed from being hit like that.
