HCA Virginia 8K winners from Kenya, Ethiopia

Two Olympic hopefuls won this morning’s HCA Virginia 8K, part of events at the SunTrust Richmond Marathon.

Elkanah Kibet, a 23-year-old Kenyan, won the men’s division with a time of 22 minutes, 47 seconds. Kibet, 23, is a student at Auburn University.  Peter Matelong, also from Kenya, finished second with a time of 22:50.

The winner of the women’s race is Teyba Naser, a native of Ethiopia currently training in Albuquerque, N.M. Her time was 26:31. Hellen Jensutai, of Kenya, finished second with a time of 26:57.

Thanks for not letting me park on my street and thanks for the traffic jams.  Thank God this only happens once a year.
