Richmond marathon weekend sets registration record
The SunTrust Richmond Marathon has broken its event registration record.
More than 14,650 people had registered by yesterday afternoon for either the marathon, half-marathon, 8K or kids' run.
That surpasses the mark of 14,601 set last year.
The record includes 5,150 people signed up for the marathon, breaking 2007's mark of 5,150. This marks the ninth time in 11 years that the marathon has set an entry record.
The half-marathon also is at 5,150 runners.
The marathon, half-marathon and 8K will be held Saturday. The kids' run is set for Friday.
