Images from the Valentine Richmond History Center’s Richmond Times-Dispatch Photo Collection

These photos feature the winning captions from the “What in the World is Happening in this Photo?!?” contest. The photos are from a collection of images taken between 1945 and 1991 by Times-Dispatch photographers.

The “What in the World is Happening in this Photo?!?” contest and exhibits are sponsored by the Valentine Richmond History Center, the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the University of Richmond. 

Photos with winning captions and the actual photo caption/identification are displayed below.

The photos and their clever captions also are on exhibit at The Times-Dispatch and the Valentine Richmond History Center. Be sure to visit both locations to see all the photos!

Valentine Richmond History Center, 1015 East Clay Street, Tues - Sat, 10am to 5pm and Sun, noon - 5pm (Fee Required)
