WHAT: USL-2 professional soccer match WHEN/WHERE: Today, 7 p.m., Legion Sports Complex, Wilmington. N.C. NOTABLE: Two of the hottest teams in USL-2 collide tonight. The Hammerheads (8-4-2) sit in third place, three points behind co-league leaders Richmond and Harrisburg, but have played one fewer game. . . . Wilmington performed impressively in the U.S. Open Cup, dousing the Chicago Fire of MLS in the third round before dropping a 2-1 decision to the Rochester Rhinos of USL-1 in the quarterfinals. . . . Richmond possesses the league's stingiest defense (13 goals allowed in 15 games). It will depend heavily upon that defense tonight. The Hammerheads' lineup includes USL-2's most prolific scorer (forward Jamie Watson, 27 points and 11 goals) and one of its most dependable distributors (midfielder Ken Bundy, six assists). . . . Even so, the Kickers (8-2-5) are far from overmatched. Forwards Matthew Delicate and David Bulow rank second and third in the league in goals (10 and nine, respectively). . . . Richmond defeated Wilmington three times last year, but the Hammerheads return only seven players from that club. . . . The Kickers return to UR Stadium on Saturday for a 7 p.m. international exhibition against CSD Comunicaciones of Guatemala. - Vic Dorr Jr.
