Men's course record set in McDonald's Half Marathon

RICHMOND -- Nicholas Kurgat set the course record today in the men's division of the McDonald's Half Marathon with a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, 2 seconds. Kurgat, 30, of Kenya, lives and trains in Chapel Hill, N.C. "The pace of the first mile was too slow," Kurgat said.

The winner in the women's division is Alemtsehay Misganaw, 29, with a time of 1:16:34. Misganaw, a native of Ethiopia, lives in New York City.

The runner-up in the men's division is Jared Abuya, 32, of Kenya. He finished with a time of 1:08:26. The women's runner-up is Elena Orlova, 39, of Russia. Her time was 1:16:59.
