Miller to race all Alpine events
MONTREAL -- Get ready for a full dose of Bode Miller. U.S. Ski Team men's coach Sasha Rearick said yesterday that Miller plans to race all five Alpine events at the Vancouver Olympics. Miller's first event will be the downhill on Feb. 13, and he'll also compete in the super-combi, super-G, giant slalom and slalom.
A five-event schedule was not a given because Miller skipped summer training while he debated retirement and is still not in top shape after injuring his ankle during a team volleyball game in December.
•The U.S. Olympic Committee has announced 216 athletes for the Vancouver Games, including two who have been selected to five straight teams: Nordic combined skier Todd Lodwick and luge athlete Mark Grimmette. •Any Italian athlete caught doping at the Vancouver Olympics will be fined $140,000 by the Italian Olympic Committee.

Canadiens' top scorer sidelined
The Montreal Canadiens' top scorer Michael Cammalleri will be out for about six weeks with a knee injury, but the team said yesterday he won't need surgery.
Cammalleri was injured during a 3-2 overtime loss Saturday in Ottawa when he fell awkwardly into the boards after being hit by Anton Volchenkov.
Cammalleri has a team-leading 26 goals and 48 points in 56 games.
Rangers, Flames swap forwards
CALGARY, Alberta -- The New York Rangers acquired forwards Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust from the Calgary Flames for forwards Christopher Higgins and Ales Kotalik. Jokinen has 11 goals and 24 assists in 56 games. Prust posted one goal and four assists in 43 games with the Flames. He is second in the NHL with 18 fighting majors.
•Chicago Blackhawks center Dave Bolland expects to play tonight against the St. Louis Blues, his first game since undergoing surgery Nov. 10 to repair a herniated disc in his back.

Tribe duo to play in all-star game
WILLIAMSBURG -- After outstanding careers at William and Mary, Adrian Tracy and Sean Lissemore will compete in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game in El Paso, Texas on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tracy will be part of the Nation roster, while Lissemore will be included on the Texas roster. The contest will be televised live on CBS College Sports Television.
Honored by five organizations as an All-American this season, Tracy established himself as one of the nation's top defensive players in 2009. A four-year contributor on W&M's defensive front, Lissemore posted his best overall performance in 2009 as he received multiple All-America accolades.
•Alabama has doubled the salary of defensive coordinator Kirby Smart after he helped the Crimson Tide win a national championship. Smart will make $750,000 a year through Feb. 28, 2013.

Devvarman advances in South Africa
JOHANNESBURG -- Former Virginia star Somdev Devvarman defeated sixth-seeded Xavier Malisse 6-4, 6-2 to reach the second round of the SA Tennis Open. Fourth-seeded Marco Chiudinelli lost 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to Dustin Brown.

•Outfielder Reed Johnson agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Johnson spent the past two seasons with the Chicago Cubs after beginning his major-league career with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2003. •Outfielder Scott Hairston and the San Diego Padres agreed to a $2.45 million, one-year contract to avoid arbitration. •Formula One is set to formalize new regulations for the expanded 13-team championship that includes a points system that would reward the top 10 drivers while handing race winners 25 points. •Pennsylvania horse racing authorities ousted the top-earning owner in the sport from one of its tracks amid a series of horse breakdowns and a boycott by jockeys worried about safety. Beleaguered owner Michael Gill, who won 370 races last year and earned $6.7 million, and his lead trainer were ejected yesterday from Penn National Race Course after most of the competing jockeys refused to ride against his mounts. Ten of Gill's horses broke down over 13 months. •Lance Armstrong will take on world road cycling champion Cadel Evans and Olympic gold medalist Samuel Sanchez in the Criterium International in Corsica on March 27. •In Stillwater, Okla., former Oklahoma State NCAA wrestling champion Jack Brisco died Monday at age 68. Mr. Brisco was a native of Blackwell, Okla., and was the 1964 and 1965 Big Eight champion at 191 pounds. •SportsQuest and the Richmond Revolution have signed former Virginia Tech Hokie and Highland Springs standout Noland Burchette to a contract for the 2010 season. Burchette joins the Revolution after a five-year career at Tech and brief stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons. At Tech, Burchette totaled 137 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks.
