McKie, Gbinije, McGee are first-team all-state

The Richmond area has representation on the public and private school all-state boys basketball teams.


Travis McKie of John Marshall, a two-time Central Region player of the year, has been selected to the Virginia High School Coaches Association Group AAA first team.


Mike Gbinije of Benedictine and Jake McGee of Collegiate are first-team picks for the Virginia Independent Schools Division I all-state squad, and Adjehi Baru of Steward and Kion Brown of Evangel Christian are Division III first teamers.


Jordan Burgess of Bishop O'Connell was named to the Division I first team. Burgess is from Chesterfield County and played at Benedictine with his brother Bradford (now at VCU) before heading to northern Virginia.


Du'Vaughn Maxwell of Central Region champion and state runner-up Petersburg and Jarvis Threatt of Highland Springs were named to the Group AAA second team. Trey Davis of Benedictine was named to the VIS, Division I second team.



VHSCA, GROUP AAA


First team : Melvin Henderson, Patrick Henry-Roanoke; Max Lenox, W.T. Woodson; Travis McKie, John Marshall; Dorian Finney-Smith, I.C. Norcom; Davante Gardner, King's Fork.


Player of the year : Dorian Finney-Smith, I.C. Norcom.


Coach of the year : Jack Esworthy, Patrick Henry-Roanoke.


Second team : Du'Vaughn Maxwell, Petersburg; Justin Burrell, Potomac; C.J. Barksdale, GW-Danville; Jarvis Threatt, Highland Springs; Dimitri Bolton, Kecoughtan.


Richmond area honorable mention : David Robinson, Cosby; Andrew White, Thomas Dale.

VISAA, Division I


First team : Kendall Marshall, Bishop O'Connell; Jordan Burgess, Bishop O'Connell; D.J.
