Richmond-area golfers David Partridge (Manakin) and Adam Ball (Richmond) joined Scott Shingler of Haymarket as the Virginia State Golf Association golfers of the year.
Shingler, the State Amateur champion, was the golfer of the year. Partridge, the first player to win the Senior State Amateur and Senior Open of Virginia in the same year, was tabbed as the top senior golfer, and Ball, winner of the Junior Boys Match Play and a semifinalist at the U.S. Junior, took home junior boy-of-the-year accolades.
Partridge was presented his award by 2010 winner Glenn Mullian, who is recovering from a near-fatal car crash in May.
Shingler, 40, previously was the VSGA's top golfer in 2009. Ball, 17 and a junior at St. Christopher's, shared junior boy honors with Jake Mondy in 2010. Partridge, 57, was the VSGA golfer of the year four times from 1988-1995.
The honors were announced at the VSGA's annual meeting Saturday.
The VSGA also presented Col. Dick Johns, retiring executive director of the Middle Atlantic PGA section, with its president's award, which recognizes service and contributions to the game.
Other award-winners were Bert Wilson of Mechanicsville (section chairman of the year); Tony Caggiano of Springfield, the VSGA's course rating coordinator (service to golf); and Perry Stone of Williamsburg (volunteer of the year).
