Richmond scored quickly. Matthew Delicate capitalized on miscommunication by the Battery defense for a first-minute goal, but Dane Kelly pulled the Battery (4-4-2) even in the 26th minute, scoring on a rebound after his initial shot was deflected by Richmond goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale.
The win was the Battery's first in six games and moved them back into fourth place in the USL PRO American Division standings ahead of the Wilmington Hammerheads.
The Kickers will try to rebound from the defeat as they drive south to face American Division leader Orlando City at the Florida Citrus Bowl tonight at 7:30. Richmond then returns home to host F.C. New York at City Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m.
