Hopewell's Cody Allala pinned Mills Godwin's Eric Monroe in 2:30 in the 160-pound quarterfinals. Allala is the region's only current three-time state champion. His quest to become the Central Region's seventh four-time region champion will continue today when the semifinals get under way at noon.

HERMITAGE 59,
NO. 6 THOMAS JEFFERSON 52
D'vonta Derricott scored 26 points, including a 3-pointer in each quarter, as Hermitage (9-13, 7-9) upset No. 6 Thomas Jefferson 59-52.
"The whole team played hard, we had a big crowd for senior night," Hermitage coach Earl Kinney said. "The team wanted to send the seniors out on a good note."
Hermitage went into the fourth quarter with a six-point lead, and the Vikings (17-5, 12-4) were held at bay by Derricott and others.
"We had hustling interior defense," Kinney said.

NO. 2 JOHN MARSHALL 58,

Late heroics by Willie Mangum helped John Marshall keep its district unbeaten streak intact against tenacious Deep Run.
Behind Parker Hall's 27 points and Lucas Dyer (14 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks), the Wildcats compiled an advantage that swelled to seven points with four minutes remaining in the contest.
But Mangum used an 18-point second-half outburst to slow the Wildcats' surge, putting the Justices back on top in what Deep Run assistant coach Paul Gee said was an absolutely "phenomenal atmosphere."
