Michael Strauss, a quarterback who spent two seasons at the University of Virgina, will start classes at the University of Richmond on Monday, the beginning of the second semester at UR.
Strauss has three seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2010 and not seeing game action in 2011 at Virginia. The 6-foot-2, 204-pounder from the Miami area ended this season as the fourth QB on the Cavaliers’ depth chart, behind sophomore Michael Rocco, freshman David Watford, and sophomore Ross Metheny. Strauss received his release from Virginia in late November.
Richmond in early December hired Danny Rocco as coach. Rocco, the coach at Liberty University for the last six seasons, is the uncle of Michael Rocco.
UR started a transfer, Aaron Corp, at quarterback the last two seasons. Corp came to UR from the University of Southern California.
