Hanover softball coach Chris Pace has announced he is leaving his position as softball coach.
Pace has been the coach since Hanover opened in 2003. He went 143-49 over eight seasons and won the region title in 2006 and 2007. He won the state title in 2006.
Brian Letourneau, an assistant for the past seven seasons, takes over as head coach. Stephanie Acors, a former ECU player, will join the staff as an assistant.
Tom Brummell, Hanover's pitching coach the past four seasons, also is stepping down.
"There are several reasons for my decision," Pace said in a statement. "First and most importantly, my three kids are growing up fast and I want to spend more time with my family. My daughter Katie played T-ball last fall at Atlee Little League and loved it, so I will be coaching there this spring. I also have plans for improving the golf program here at Hanover, and I look forward to that.
"Helping to build the softball program here at Hanover was a tremendous experience. I want to thank each and every player I have had for their hard work, dedication, discipline and intensity. My admisstrators and many parents have been great as well. I enjoyed it all."
