ODU defeats UNC-Wilmington

Kent Bazemore had 17 points and Old Dominion sank three free throws in the game's final 23 seconds, lifting the Monarchs to a 53-48 win over UNC Wilmington on Wednesday night to keep them in the Colonial Athletic Association race.

Keith Rendleman's layup brought the Seahawks to within 50-48, but Marquel De Lancey, Dimitri Batten and Bazemore each sank one foul shot in the final seconds to seal it for the Monarchs (13-9, 8-2).

Old Dominion is locked in a three-way tie with Drexel and Virginia Commonwealth in the CAA standings, the trio just one game behind first-place George Mason.

Chris Cooper notched a double-double for Old Dominion, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 boards.

Adam Smith led UNC Wilmington (8-12, 4-6) with 18 points, while Rendleman finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

The Monarchs have won two consecutive games, while the Seahawks have lost two straight.

W&L 67, EMORY & HENRY 46: A one-point Wasps lead turned into a 21-point victory for the Generals (11-7, 4-5 ODAC) behind Clay Mclean's 15 points and 14 points, and 10 rebounds from Larry Whitaker. The Wasps (8-10, 2-8) were led by Charles Smith's 12 points and 10 rebounds.

VIRGINIA WESLEYAN 91, EASTERN MENNONITE 65: Donald Vaughn led all scorers with 25 points, DJ Woodmore chipped in 20 points and seven rebounds, and the Marlins (15-2, 8-1) beat the visiting Royals (8-10, 3-6) in ODAC action. Andrew Thorne had 16 points and seven boards for EMU.

GUILFORD 67, RANDOLPH 47: Gabriel Lowder posted 15 points and seven rebounds in helping the host Quakers (14-5, 8-2 ODAC) fend off Randolph (7-11, 2-7). The WildCats were paced by Colton Hunt and Zach Desgain, who each scored 12 points.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY 92, LYNCHBURG 59: Ru White had a game-best 15 points, Ben Jessee and Greg Lewis scored 11 points each, and the Tigers (16-3, 9-2) stormed past host Lynchburg (11-8, 6-5) in ODAC action.

Andrew Simmons led the Hornets' offense with eight points off the bench.

RANDOLPH-MACON 87, ROANOKE 62: Lamar Giggetts had game-highs with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and the Yellow Jackets (16-3, 9-2) trounced the Maroons (5-13, 1-8) in an ODAC contest.

Calvin Croskey pitched in 12 points on four triples for R-MC.

Kwasi Amponsah scored a team-best 19 points for Roanoke.

CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT 81, AVERETT 72: Mike Cherry and Luc Atangana scored 17 points apiece to help power the Captains (16-3, 7-0) past the host Cougars (6-12, 1-5).

Atangana finished with 11 rebounds for CNU, and Nik Biberaj had 14 points and 10 boards.

Jonathan Setters posted 15 points for the Cougars, and Marquis Scott finished with 10 points and 14 boards.
