Cosby claims crown

Cosby wrestlers won four championships Saturday to lift the Titans to the Dominion District team championship.

Nick Powis (103), Blake Cooksey (140), Greg Delano (145) and Austin Coburn (171) captured titles for Cosby, which registered 220 points. Midlothian was second with 204, and L.C. Bird third at 162. The Titans placed six wrestlers in the finals. The Trojans had four with Austin Ingram (119) and Jerry Ronnau (135) claiming titles. L.C. Bird had three champions in Brandon Lawson (112), Sean Thompson (125) and Darrick Gore (160).

CENTRAL DISTRICT: With six first-place finishes and a score of 268.5, Matoaca cruised to the district title. The Warriors competed without state champion Blake Roulo. Dylan Schuster (103), Michael Peters (112), Kyle Gordon (119), Stuart Jefferson (135), Corbin Ramos (171) and Austin Akins (189) all claimed championships.

PREP LEAGUE: St. Christopher's won six individual championships and the team title at the Prep League championships.

The Saints scored 223.5 points to top Woodberry Forest (196). Collegiate was third with 134 points.

GROUP A: In the Group A, Region B Southern Sectional tournament, Casey Hamilton of Amelia won the 103-pound title. Amelia had two wrestlers finish in second place, Charles Taylor (171) and Ethan Chamberlin (215). In the 125-pound weight class, Amelia's Clay Donoghue finished fourth.

Appomattox won the team title with 193 points. Amelia was eighth with 87.5.
