Football

  • Benedictine wide receiver Charley Meyer (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) made the decision to walk on at Virginia Tech, coach Greg Lilly said. Meyer turned down full offers from the University of Richmond, William and Mary, James Madison, Navy, Eastern Michigan and Fordham. He was named second team All-Metro.
  • Henrico kicker Ricky Segers (5-11, 170) will walk on at Old Dominion. Segers turned down a scholarship offer from Hampton.
  • Two players at Trinity Episcopal will walk on at VMI — Robert de Wolff, a 6-3, 245-pound defensive lineman, and Stephen Hupp, a 6-1, 250-pound offensive lineman. Both were named VISAA first team all-state.

Other sports

  • Among those signing at Cosby on Wednesday were All-Americans Megan Moye and Luis Rendon. Moye, who signed with N.C. State, achieved the honor in the two-mile run last year. She will compete in the Millrose Games next weekend in New York. Rendon was named the Gatorade boys soccer national player of the year. He signed with Duke.
  • St. Catherine's also had two All-Americans sign: Kali Vicars to Wake Forest and Amanda Kim to Duke. Both play field hockey.
