Stifling defensive pressure early and late was instrumental in helping Meadowbrook's girls basketball team defeat Prince George 63-41 on Monday in a Central District play-in game.

The Monarchs, ranked No. 7 in the Times-Dispatch Top 10, shared the same district record with the No. 9 Royals when the season ended.

Ashley Pegram turned in a game-best 24 points for Meadowbrook.
