Errors cost Wozniacki in Dubai semis
Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki lost in the semifinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Friday, her game undone by mistakes in a 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 defeat to Julia Goerges.
Goerges will play for the title today against Agnieszka Radwanska, who beat Jelena Jankovic 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 in the first semifinal.
Wozniacki led 4-2 in the second set before Goerges regained control to close the match.
"Made way too many unforced errors, and Julia took advantage of that," Wozniacki said.
Wozniacki, a former No. 1 ranked player who was seeded third, struggled with her serve, and Goerges never let her find her rhythm.
"I felt I had all the opportunities in the world today and didn't take advantage of them. If you don't take your chances, there is no way to win," Wozniacki said. "It's easy to say I should have done this and could have done that. But, you know, as well for Julia she took her chances. If I came with a weak shot, she was there straight away and she punished me."
Goerges has a 3-2 head-to-head record against Wozniacki.
"It's never easy playing her," Goerges said. "It's always a lot of balls, a lot of rallies. We played over two hours for two sets."

Oregon releases draft of NCAA review
Oregon has acknowledged in documents it did not adequately monitor its football program and it did not follow NCAA regulations relating to recruiting and use of recruiting services
A statement of "proposed findings of violations" submitted by the NCAA to the Oregon athletics department was obtained in a public records request by several media outlets.
The NCAA has been looking into Oregon's recruiting practices since questions arose over a 2010 payment of $25,000 to Willie Lyles and his Houston-based recruiting service. The information Oregon said Lyles provided for the fee was largely outdated.
Oregon has not received a formal Notice of Allegations from the NCAA. The heavily redacted documents released do not include any possible penalties.

Group sues to halt America's Cup plans
The former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors has filed a lawsuit seeking a new environmental review of the America's Cup sailing race.
A group calling itself Waterfront Watch filed the lawsuit in San Francisco Superior Court.
Former board president Aaron Peskin signed the lawsuit, saying he was a member of the group. The unincorporated group describes itself as "persons and entities that objected to approval" of San Francisco hosting sailing's most prestigious racing event in September 2013.
The lawsuit alleges the city failed to properly review the environmental impacts the event will have on the San Francisco Bay and the city.
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote next week on final approval of the financial agreement between the city and race organizers.
