Park dedicated to Marines
The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation recently dedicated a 23-acre park overlooking the National Museum of the Marine Corps near Quantico.
The Semper Fidelis Memorial Park includes more than a mile of new trails. The park's paths are lined with memorials and more than 16,000 commemorative bricks honoring Marines past and present.
The Marine Corps museum opened in November 2006 and has drawn more than 2 million visitors.
Kandinsky, Stella under one roof
The Phillips Collection will showcase the art of Wassily Kandinsky and Frank Stella in two exhibitions, "Kandinsky and the Harmony of Silence: Painting with White Border" and "Stella Sounds: The Scarlatti K Series."
The exhibitions open June 11 and remain on view through Sept. 4.

Civil War exhibit opens in Maryland
The Maryland Historical Society's museum opened Maryland's largest and most comprehensive Civil War exhibit this month.
The impact of the war is told in personal terms in "Divided Voices: Maryland in the Civil War." The exhibit occupies more than 5,000 square feet and tells the story of a tragedy in three acts: the romantic war, the real war and the long reunion.
The exhibit will run for four years with annual updates.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for ages 3 to 18, free for 2 and younger. The museum is free on the first Thursday of each month. For details, go to www.mdhs.org or call (410) 685-3750.
