The Jefferson Hotel has received AAA's top Five Diamond rating for the 19th year, the travel group announced Friday.
The much-acclaimed Richmond hotel was the only Five Diamond recipient in central Virginia for 2012.
"The associates of The Jefferson Hotel are honored to receive the AAA Five Diamond award for the 19th consecutive year," said Joe Longo, the hotel's managing director. "The award is a testament to their dedication to providing guests with an exceptional travel experience while visiting the Richmond region."
Four hotels in the region received the travel group's Four Diamond award: The Berkeley Hotel in Richmond, for the 23rd year; the Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa at Short Pump, for the second year; The Westin Richmond in Henrico County, for the third year; and the Wyndham Virginia Crossing Hotel and Conference Center in northern Henrico, for the eighth year.
AAA also selected The Jefferson's Lemaire restaurant for a Four Diamond rating for 2012.
"We are extremely proud of the reception that Lemaire has received following the introduction of the more relaxed and approachable concept introduced in 2009," Longo said, "and are honored to receive the AAA Four Diamond award in recognition of those efforts."
In November, The Jefferson Hotel also received a five-star award in the 2012 Forbes Travel Guide. The Jefferson earned the top award for the 12th straight year in the Forbes guide, formerly the Mobil Travel Guide.
The AAA Five and Four Diamond ratings are that travel organization's highest designations for hotels and restaurants. Lodgings with the top two ratings have to be refined and stylish with upscale physical attributes, AAA said, offering guests extensive amenities and a wide range of services.
Restaurants in those categories, the group said, provide distinctive fine-dining experiences, featuring highly creative chefs, complex menus, top-quality ingredients and knowledgeable staffs.
